General Rules
1. Assemble a group . This includes your character AND all your character's family members.
2. Study, Study, Study. What do you know about survival? What things do you (and your character) know that will help the group?
3. Only choose and keep the necessary stuff for your Survival Kit. Wean yourself off luxury items. No fancy jewelry or extras for you!
4. Create a catalog that documents all your gear.
5. To the ends of the earth! Make a pact with your group to keep going no matter what!
6. Know your location. Where ARE you? What's the terrain like? Are there things to eat and places to get water and other resources?
7. Become an expert. Research the area and the route you will take to get to your new home. The more you know, the better your chances.
8. Plan your route to the Zombie Safe Zone. How long will it take?
9. Plans B-C-D-E. What if your first mode of transportation doesn't work? What will you do then? Make back up plans!
10. Keep a list of all your gear with you at all times and be ready to shop. Maybe you'll come along something extra that you need!
11. Plan your defenses. You want as LITTLE contact as possible with bacteria and viruses that could compromise your immune system.
12. Remain concealed and isolated. Stay quiet. No loud noises. Be ever at the ready.
Good luck, Godspeed, and may the odds be ever in your favor! (Wait ... wrong movie.) Keep calm and hide behind Daryl Dixon!

Resource Considerations
Resources (food, water, and first aid) are absolutely necessary for survival and getting to your destination in one piece.

Example "Outbreak Journal" Entry
You and your group must create a journal entry after each "day" of traveling as you move toward your Zombie Safe Zone. Sometimes there will be specific requirements that you'll be asked to incorporate into some of the journal entries (which relate directly back to the skills you need to master this semester). For now, take a look at the example journal entry below (from Max Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead).
